Several thousand Egyptians have marched to the Israeli Embassy in Cairo, protesting Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip.
Around 2,000 protesters broke away from a mass demonstration Friday in central Tahrir Square _ which was demanding ousted president Hosni Mubarak and his family be put on trial for alleged corruption _ to march on the embassy on the other side of the Nile River.
Chanting slogans against Israel, they have been stopped at a military checkpoint that kept them away from the embassy entrance.
Earlier Friday, Israeli aircraft and ground forces struck Gaza, killing four Hamas militants and five civilians in retaliation for a Palestinian rocket attack on an Israeli school bus the day before.
